"In Other Worlds showcased the versality of Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing, with a range running from poignant and sweet to humorous and fun."

According to the author's note, this book is a compilation of short stories she'd written before. But since I've never read any of her books yet, I thought it would be a good introduction for me.

And it certainly was!

Fire and Ice

I loved this novella that's part of her League series. There's a certain poignant quality to the story, contributed in part by the hero's tortured past and broken body and soul. Yet, his romance with the heroine is portrayed with sweetness and depth. Only a woman who truly loved a man would stay with such a man like Adron, who is bitter and continually pushes her away. Theirs is a love that is tested through hardship and sacrifice

Knightly Dreams

This is a quirky novella about a hero who stepped out of the pages of a book to win the heroine's heart and consequently, his happiness. The author took advantage of the zaniness of the situation, and her writing was both humorous and fun, making me wonder how on earth hadn't I discoverd her before this. (I love books that make me laugh.)

Dragonswan

Sebastian Kattalakis is a shapeshifting dragon who time traveled to "borrow" a tapestry hanging in the museum, where he met the human Channon, his one destined mate. He was torn between bringing her into the dangers of his life and letting her go where she would be safe. And what woman wanted to be safe when she could have such a courageous and honorable man by her side to protect her? Channon soon set Sebastian straight, but she had a fight in her hands as they battled for his life.

In the midst of the sexual tension and hot passion these two have for each other, Ms. Kenyon's wit and humor continued to show through in her dialogue and her characters' narratives. This is a related book to the Dark Hunters series, one more series I seriously have to catch up on!

In Other Worlds showcased the versality of Sherrilyn Kenyon's writing, with a range running from poignant and sweet to humorous and fun. Since this is but a sample teaser of her books, I know I'll be in for a delightful smorgasbord when I delve into her full-length novels.

After writing the review, I went to her website. I feel like a total ignorant fool for not knowing who she is and yet, I was awed at the same time. A treasure trove of books for me to dive into! (Good thing, coz I'm nearing the end of the BDB series, at least those that have been published.) Where do I start? Maybe with the League series, coz I was definitely intrigued with Adron's family.

Thanks for the review. I love her DH books. Just have a couple more to catch up including In Other Worlds. I'd read that first and then go onto the DH books. And I have to say that I loved Dragonswan. :)

I want this book so bad!

I've read both her League series and Dark Hunter and love both. She is such an awesome writer. I would love to meet her.

I LOVE Sherrilyn Kenyon, she got me into paranormal romances. You should start with the League series since her Dark Hunter series is really long!

@jeanette8042 That's what I thought myself! The DH series is so long I might not read other books while I immerse myself in it. Well, that is, if she wrote them as In Other Worlds, I really might not tear myself away.

Please start with the dark hunter series. The first one is Fantasy Lover. It is so funny and sexy you will be hooked and can't get through them fast enough. Except, there are the dream hunters and some other odds and ends series. Just start with the Dark Hunters and the first is Fantasy Lover. The premise is great and only Kenyon could come up with it. And reserve some time later to read Acheron. It's worth the 1000+ pages. But don't read it right away. And the Dark Hunters series will help you understand the Nick Chronicles b/c he's part of it. Let us know what you think of the series. Some are better than others but the first is one of my favorites.

@Heather Wow, 1000+ pages! I love looooong books, especially if the author's good. I can't wait to get to Acheron. Thanks for the rec, Heather!
